There's a lot we need to talk about, but first of all: Primer, baby. Primer.
Trends give us life, but our #1 makeup tip? Be prepared. Prepping your face is the most important step for flawless makeup.
We use Mac Prep + Prime, but no matter the brand, keeping your skin healthy should be your highest priority.
Now that that's over... Here are three makeup trends that you can master with products you already own:
It’s the easiest way to look uniquely flawless.
What is baking? Baking focuses on your natural bone structure. After you apply your foundation and concealer, set a slightly tinted translucent powder underneath your eyes, the middle of your forehead, your jawline, and your chin, so that your face will not crease or budge all day or all night.
To Apply: Take a beauty blender or makeup sponge, dip in loose translucent powder, apply underneath your eyes, middle of your forehead, underneath your contour on your jawline, and the middle of your chin. Leave it to set for 5-10 minutes depending on skin type. If you have oily skin, leave for 10 minutes. If you have dry skin, leave for 5 minutes. If you have combination skin, leave for about 7 minutes.
It’s vitally important to let the powder sit because it will absorb oils and set your concealer.
When time is up, simply swipe the powder away with a brush. Your concealer will last all night without creasing, your under eyes will be bright and awake, your cheekbones will be sharp; you’ll look airbrushed and flawless!
Glowing skin is in.
What is Highlighting? Highlighting gives your skin a luminous, glowing look that lifts your cheekbones and under eyes to give you more youthful, lifted look. It elevates a matte look while still appearing natural.
To Apply: Highlighting is all about placement. Using a fan brush, place highlighter on top of your contour. Start about two fingers width away from your nose, and at the top of your cheekbone, swipe the product along your cheekbone creating a C shape that reaches around the side of your eye. Swipe a little highlighter on top of your brow bone and on the tip of your nose.
Pro Tip: For a more intense look, start with a highlighting stick or a liquid as a base, then add highlighting powder on top to get that boom. For a more natural look, just apply highlighting powder.
Pro Tip: Fix Plus Finish is a highlight lovers dream! There’s two ways to get brilliant shine… You can simply spray your brush with Fix Plus Finish then apply highlighter with the damp brush, OR you can apply highlighter, spray your face with Fix Plus Finish, and then apply highlighter again. Both options will give you that boom.
The lips compliment the skin and the eyes.
What is Nude Lipstick? Nudes are natural, they blend with your skin color, and they allow you to play with and express your personal skin tones. It’s the best way to bring out your natural skin while defining your lips. And, it goes perfectly with glowy skin.
Pro Tip: Pair with no eyeliner -- just lashes, brows, and face. That’s all you need for the everyday glam.
How to: Use a lip liner on your entire lip, not just the outline. Without a base, your lipstick will smudge and budge. However, with a base, your lips will look more plump and the color will last all day.
Pro Tip: Find your perfect shade and take it with you everywhere you go!
