So, here we go...
We’ve written a fool-proof way to perfect the effortless messy bun. It won’t be too messy, it won’t be ballerina-tight, and it won’t fall flat -- You can do it!
Step One: Use Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray all over your hair, focusing on your roots. This isn’t a science and doesn’t have to be a perfect application.
It’s important to remember throughout this process that it’s okay to do things your own way! The best part about a messy look is that nothing has to be done perfectly.
Pro Tip: Once you’ve built all-over texture, begin to section your hair by first putting up the top half of your hair. Take the bottom half and split it down the middle, creating two equal sections. Using a wand or a flat iron, curl just a few strands of hair. Repeat this step with the top half of your hair. By curling some sections of your hair, you will add more body and volume to the messy bun we’re working towards. This step is by no means necessary and the curls do not have to be perfect At the end of the day, the goal is to stack your hair on top of your head.
Step Two: Gather your hair and put it in a ponytail - it can be as low or as high on top of your head as you desire. Low buns at the nape of your neck are definitely in this season, but then again, a bun on the very top of your head will never go out of style.
Step Three: Grab your hair, wrap it around two fingers, and pull the end through the loop, literally tying it in a knot. Depending on how messy you want your bun, you can either secure the knot with a couple of bobby pins (very messy), a hair tie (messy), or both (not so messy). You can easily adjust the grunginess of the bun by pulling it apart with your fingers or by adding more pins to be sure it’s super secure. Add hairspray and have a great day!
